FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is eligible to receive a birthday present? 
Children ages 3 to 18 years old receive gifts from Birthday Blessings, Inc.  Children must be referred to the organization by a Social Worker or other named person of influence.  The referrer will be able to verify the need of the child and determine that the child is in a living situation where the caregiver is suffering a financial hardship.

How do you find children in need? 
We reach out to social services, shelters, and prison ministries, churches, etc. to provide us with the children for our program.

What areas do you serve? 
Currently, Birthday Blessings provides presents to children in Northern VA, Loudoun County area.

What types of gifts do you give? 
Typically, each child receives three presents totaling $30 - $35 in value. One present is valued at $18, the second at $12, and a small gift is placed on the outside of the present. Some examples of presents we provide are sports equipment, games, books, jewelry, purses, make-up, remote control cars, art sets, Barbie's, Lego's, gift certificates and dolls. All aged children love stuffed animals.

What type of presents do you need?
New toys and gifts for children ranging in age from 3 – 18.  Older children’s gifts appear to be the ones we’re always running short on. Examples of gifts that suit this pre-teen and teenage group include board games, sporting equipment, books, wallets, jewelry, purses, journals, movie tickets and gift cards.

Is there anything else besides presents I can donate? 
Besides presents, we are always in need of wrapping materials (wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper, ribbon and tape).  You can also create a birthday card here.

Are there any types of items you do not want? 
Since this is the only present these children receive we ask that all donated gifts be brand new. We also don’t give clothes or shoes due to the nature of the size and style.

Is my contribution tax-deductible? 
Yes, all donations to Birthday Blessings, Inc. are tax-deductible because we are a non-profit organization with a 501(c)(3) status.

What do you do with financial contributions? 

Birthday Blessings, Inc. is supported by an all-volunteer team; therefore all financial contributions are invested back into the organization. Your contribution covers items such as presents, wrapping materials, and marketing items to grow the organization.

Do you need volunteers? 
Yes. Our volunteers are instrumental in selecting and wrapping gifts, fundraising, networking with area businesses to secure corporate sponsors and many other facets.  Go to How Can I Help? Click Here To Volunteer.
